Volleyball Recap: Firebaugh Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Fowler, Firebaugh was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They skirted past the Wonderful College Prep Academy Lions 3-2. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Firebaugh had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first two sets, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 11-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20, 15-13.

Despite the loss, Wonderful College Prep Academy still got an impressive performance from Genesis Ortez, who had 30 digs and five aces. Ortez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 16 or more in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Valeria Juarez, who had 12 digs and two aces.

Firebaugh's victory bumped their record up to 3-11. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season.

Firebaugh will head out to challenge Kings Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wonderful College Prep Academy, they will host Coast Union at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
