Softball Recap: North Miami Wins Going Away Against Triton

While North Miami didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They put the hurt on the Triton Trojans with a sharp 21-1 victory on Tuesday. The contest marked the Warriors' most dominant win of the season so far.

Ashley Sumpter-Music made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.3 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jordyn Hackworth and Addison Tinney did most of the damage at the plate: Hackworth got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI, while Tinney got on base in all five of her plate appearances with four RBI and two runs. That's the most runs Tinney has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Victoria Masters, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

North Miami was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Triton only posted a batting average of .056.

The victory made it two in a row for North Miami and bumps their season record up to 7-2. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Triton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-12.

Coming up, North Miami will take on Manchester at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Triton, they will challenge Bremen at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
