Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Nettleton). They were the clear victor by a 42-20 margin over the Brookland Bearcats on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Xavier Harrell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 113 yards and three touchdowns on only 11 carries. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 106 rushing yards dating back to last season. Maddox Hampton was another key player, throwing for 118 yards and two touchdowns.
Nettleton didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Isaac Black picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown.
The victory (which was Nettleton's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. As for Brookland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-2.
Nettleton will host Paragould at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Nettleton will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last. As for Brookland, they will head out to face off against Greene County Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brookland is facing Greene County Tech at the right time seeing as Greene County Tech is stuck on a five-game losing streak.
