Baseball Recap: Bellaire's Win Ends Three-Game Losing Streak at Home

Bellaire barely beat Pellston the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles never let the Hornets get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Eagles have won six contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Colin Bearup was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Bellaire is undefeated when Bearup allows three or fewer hits, but 3-5-1 otherwise. Bearup was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Tyler Schumaker was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Luke Smith was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Bellaire kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pellston only managed two hits.

Bellaire's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 8-5-1. As for Pellston, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Looking ahead, Bellaire will head out on the road to square off against Ellsworth on Thursday. As for Pellston, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Forest Area at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
