Baseball Recap: Firestone Sets Scoring Season-High Against Buchtel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Firestone). They put the hurt on the Buchtel Griffins with a sharp 18-2 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Falcons in their matchups with the Griffins: they've now won nine in a row.

Noah Liming made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Firestone let Tony Miller and Skyler Nespo run wild. Miller got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Nespo went 1-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That's the most runs Nespo has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Rhamy, who went 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Firestone always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Firestone pushed their record up to 12-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Buchtel, they are on a ten-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.
