The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Patriots came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 124th, while the Raiders are ranked 249th).

Meanwhile, Southern Lee humbled Scotland with a 73-37 victory. The Cavaliers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Pinecrest's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-5. As for Southern Lee, their victory bumped their record up to 16-1.
