Basketball Recap: Rochelle Comes Up Short

Rochelle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They fell 55-43 to the Rockford Christian Royal Lions. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hubs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 61-54 back in December of 2024.

Rockford Christian found their leader in sophomore Teagan Lawver, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lawver has scored all season. Madigan Rhode also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Rochelle's record now sits at 4-16. As for Rockford Christian, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.

Rochelle wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 61-31 loss against Plano on the 17th. As for Rockford Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 68-45 defeat against Stillman Valley on the 17th.
