Basketball Recap: Erwin's Loss Ends Three-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Erwin was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took an 81-65 bruising from the McDowell Titans. The Warriors lost against the Titans in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 94-56 score last time.

When it comes to explaining why Erwin lost, don't look at Carson Wallace. Despite the final result, he went 10 for 17 en route to 32 points and five rebounds. That's the most points Wallace has posted since back in January of 2024. Michael Petty was another key player, putting up seven points.

McDowell had a senior duo take command as Rylan Parkins posted 27 points and Kyson Rinnert scored 27 points. Rinnert continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jay Radford, who put up 11 points.

Erwin's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-9. As for McDowell, their win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.

Erwin didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, an 88-68 loss against North Buncombe on the 21st. As for McDowell, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 77-53 defeat against A.C. Reynolds on the 23rd.
