Basketball Recap: 13 Straight Home Victories for Ralston Valley

Ralston Valley had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They walked away with a 79-72 victory over the Denver South Ravens on Tuesday. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Ralston Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Samson Wright, who dropped a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. Those 11 rebounds gave Wright a new career-high. Tanner Braketa was another key player, going 7-for-11 en route to 21 points and six assists.

Ralston Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. They racked up nine more assists than Denver South's also-impressive total of 15.

Denver South's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dominic Rhoades-Martinez, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 25 points and four steals. The contest was Rhoades-Martinez's third in a row with at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Damian Dirden, who went 6-for-10 to rack up 15 points and six boards.

Ralston Valley pushed their record up to 23-2 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.1 points over those games. As for Denver South, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-9.

Coming up, Ralston Valley will face off against Valor Christian on Saturday. Valor Christian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 24 matchups -- so hopefully Ralston Valley likes a good challenge. Denver South does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
