Softball Game Preview: Stoneman Douglas Eagles vs. South Plantation Paladins

The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will face off against the South Plantation Paladins at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

On Monday, Stoneman Douglas got the win against Taravella by a conclusive 19-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Eagles.

Kaitlin Enright was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

In other batting news, Sophia McComas and Myah Boleen did most of the damage at the plate: McComas scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2, while Boleen scored three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits Boleen has posted since back in April of 2024. Dani Rincon was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, South Plantation never let their opponents score on Friday. They put the hurt on South Broward with a sharp 10-0 win. The Paladins haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

The team relied heavily on Victoria Vazquez, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Boehly, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

South Plantation hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.

South Plantation pushed their record up to 5-10 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Stoneman Douglas, the win got them back to even at 8-8.

Stoneman Douglas took their victory against South Plantation in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-6 score. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Paladins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
