Softball Recap: Sarasota Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Sarasota had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They put the hurt on the Westminster Academy Lions with a sharp 9-1 victory. Considering the Sailors have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Gemma Mulhollen spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mady Pint was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashlan Guengerich, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Sarasota's win bumped their record up to 10-4. As for Westminster Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6.

Sarasota wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 12-0 victory against Belleview on the 29th. As for Westminster Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-4 defeat against Arnold on the 29th.
