Football Game Preview: Capital Cougars vs. Nitro Wildcats

The Capital Cougars are taking a road trip to face off against the Nitro Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Capital lost 30-7 to George Washington on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost six in a row.

Meanwhile, Nitro came tearing into Friday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.5 points), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 39-28 win over the Generals.

Nitro's win came from a few key players Capital will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was MALACHI THOMPSON, who picked up 145 receiving yards and a pair of scores. That's the most receiving yards he has posted since back in November of 2024. CHRIS RADCLIFFE was another key player, rushing for 108 yards and one TD on only eight carries.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Nitro proved: they limited Winfield to a paltry 2.7 yards per carry. While two picked up at least one total tackle, THOMPSON stood above the rest. He picked up 145 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. That's the most yards per carry they've managed all season.

Nitro's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Capital, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
