Softball Recap: Clarke Prep Comes Up Short

After flying high against Jackson Academy on Tuesday, Clarke Prep came back down to earth. The Gators fell just short of the Ezekiel Academy Knights by a score of 4-3 on Friday. The Gators were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in March of 2024.

Kady Thomas was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Thomas wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was BB Messer, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Those hits marked the first that Messer has got this season.

Clarke Prep moved to 6-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Ezekiel Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Clarke Prep will square off against Evangel Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Ezekiel Academy, they will challenge Chambers Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Knights' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
