Baseball Game Preview: Catholic Central Irish vs. Riverside Pirates

The Catholic Central Irish will head out on the road to square off against the Riverside Pirates at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

On Monday, Catholic Central didn't have quite enough to beat Fairbanks and fell 5-4.

Brody Adams made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Catholic Central's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 2-1 (and 3-13 when he doesn't). Charlie Axtell was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, Riverside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against Benjamin Logan, falling 10-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Catholic Central's loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Riverside, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-15.
