Recap: Columbian Tornadoes vs. Perkins Pirates
After a string of five wins, The Columbian Tornadoes''s good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 55-28 loss at the hands of Perkins. While losing is never fun, Columbian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 50th, while Perkins is ranked ninth).
Perkins' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Bunts, who rushed for 248 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.8 yards per carry. Bunts was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 56 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Lesch, who threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns.
Columbian's defeat dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Perkins, their victory was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 9-0.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Columbian will take on Ashland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Perkins, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Vermilion at 7:00 p.m. Vermilion is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
