Recap: Southern Wake Academy Lions vs. Wayne Country Day Chargers

If the Southern Wake Academy Lions were feeling good off their 81-24 takedown of the Roxboro Community Bulldogs last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Southern Wake Academy ended up on the wrong side of a tough 75-53 walloping at the hands of Wayne Country Day on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern Wake Academy has scored all season.

Southern Wake Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Chris Crudup, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds. The game was Crudup's seventh in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Alex Rechetnikov, who scored 11 points.

Wayne Country Day had a senior duo take command as Kayleb Coles scored 22 points and Carlos Vazquez scored 20 points along with six rebounds. The game was Coles' sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Tyler, who scored nine points.

Southern Wake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Wayne Country Day, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Southern Wake Academy will face off against Triangle Math & Science at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Triangle Math & Science is coming into the matchup on a six-game losing streak. As for Wayne Country Day, they will head out on the road to face off against Wayne Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wayne Preparatory Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 65.5 points per game.
