Football Recap: McQuaid Jesuit Find Success

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but McQuaid Jesuit had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They pulled ahead with a 21-20 photo finish over the University Prep Griffins. 21 seems to be a good number for the Knights as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.

University Prep's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin White, who rushed for 109 yards and two scores on only 11 carries. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last three times he's played. Another rusher making a difference was Kamari Miller, who rushed for 74 yards and one TD.

The victory (which was McQuaid Jesuit's third in a row) raised their record to 3-6. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.0 points on average over those games. As for University Prep, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

McQuaid Jesuit didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 23-20 loss against Pittsford on the 8th. University Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
