Lufkin is a perfect 5-0 against Marshall since January of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Lufkin Panthers will challenge the Marshall Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

It was a proper cat-fight when Lufkin duked it out with Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday. Lufkin came up short against Mt. Pleasant, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas soccer rankings (they are ranked 172nd, while the Tigers are ranked 23rd).

Meanwhile, Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They lost 8-0 to Jacksonville. That's two games in a row now that the Mavericks have lost by exactly eight goals.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14-1. As for Lufkin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-6-5.

Lufkin took their win against Marshall in their previous meeting back in February by a conclusive 4-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lufkin since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
