Softball Recap: Glendale Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game, Glendale was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the La Joya Community Fighting Lobos 14-13. This was a revenge game for the Cardinals: when they faced off against the Fighting Lobos last Tuesday, they had to take a 28-10 defeat.

Tzintzuni Hernandez Garcia was incredible, scoring three runs while getting on base in five of her six plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Unique Medina, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her six plate appearances.

Glendale kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2024.

Glendale is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 4-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.8 runs over those games. As for La Joya Community, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glendale will welcome Sierra Linda at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cardinals are facing the Bulldogs at the right time seeing as the Bulldogs are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for La Joya Community, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Independence at 3:45 p.m. The Fighting Lobos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Patriots have averaged an impressive 12 runs per game this season.
