Basketball Recap: Burlingame Panthers vs. Menlo-Atherton Bears

The Burlingame Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They took a 54-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of Menlo-Atherton. While losing is never fun, Burlingame can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 442nd, while the Bears are ranked 118th).

Despite the loss, Burlingame still got an impressive performance from Alain Kazarian, who scored 22 points along with five steals. That was a full 50% of Burlingame's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ryan Dougherty, who scored nine points.

Burlingame has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-11 record this season. As for Menlo-Atherton, their victory bumped their record up to 15-6.

Burlingame's road trip will continue as they head out to face the FIGHTING KNIGHTS at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Menlo-Atherton, they will be playing at home against the Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
