Football Recap: Mike Fink and Tyheem Jackson Pace Manchester Township Defense

Manchester Township was the 24-12 winner over Barnegat when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks took a 20-2 bruising from the Bengals on Friday. Hawks fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bengals since Friday.

Manchester Township didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mike Fink and Tyheem Jackson. Fink has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Barnegat can attribute much of their success to Jack Haviland, who rushed for 73 yards and two TDs on only eight carries, and also threw for 87 yards and one touchdown.

Manchester Township's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Barnegat, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Looking ahead, Manchester Township is taking a road trip to square off against Lacey Township at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Barnegat, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Toms River East at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The game will give the Bengals their first taste of in-conference action this season.
