Softball Recap: Maine South's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Maine South had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against the Evanston Wildkits by a score of 7-2 on Tuesday. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildkits, too.

Sibelle Stevens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Maine South let Peyton Santore and Aubrey Mazza run wild. Santore went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Mazza went 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Emery Yates, who went 3-for-4 with one run.

Maine South hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evanston struck out nine times.

Maine South's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-6. As for Evanston, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.
