Soccer Game Preview: Gloucester vs. Warwick

The Gloucester Dukes will square off against the Warwick Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gloucester is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Last Thursday, Gloucester needed a bit of extra time to put away Smithfield. Their defense stepped up to hand the Packers a 2-0 shutout. Given Gloucester's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Smithfield are ranked 36th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brody Sutton and Kollin Wilson scored both of Gloucester's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, after failing to score in their last match, Warwick made sure to put some goals up on the board against Norcom last Thursday. They came out on top against the Greyhounds by a score of 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for Warwick as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Warwick's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Gloucester, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Everything went Gloucester's way against Warwick in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, as Gloucester made off with a 4-0 victory. Do the Dukes have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Raiders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
