The Union Parish Farmers will head out on the road to face off against the Haynesville Golden Tornado at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Union Parish has given up an average of 10.8 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Union Parish managed to slip by North Caddo the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Union Parish lost 11-0 to North Caddo on Friday. Having soared to a lofty 16 runs in the game before, the Farmers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Union Parish saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Javion Island, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base. Island is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Haynesville). Everything went their way against Jonesboro-Hodge on Thursday as Haynesville made off with a 24-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Golden Tornado, who have now won four games by 11 runs or more so far this season.
Kyle Vines and Madden Edwards made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Vines pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Meanwhile, Edwards tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in walks (zero). At bat, Vines went 1-for-4 with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs, while Edwards scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Edwards also put up two RBI, which were his first of the season.
In other batting news, Logan Childress was a standout: he scored five runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (four). Another player making a difference was Hunter LeBlanc, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Haynesville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Haynesville has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. Union Parish dropped their record down to 4-5 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
