Basketball Game Preview: Woodson Cavaliers vs. West Potomac Wolverines

If Woodson beats West Potomac with 64 points on Monday, it's going to be the squad's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Woodson came out on top against West Springfield by a score of 64-51 on Thursday. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Spartans are ranked 207th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Woodson's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kaylen Chilton, who went 5 for 8 en route to 13 points in addition to five assists and four steals. Chilton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Theo Burke, who made all 5 shots he took racking up 12 points.

Meanwhile, West Potomac earned a 59-49 win over Fairfax on Thursday.

West Potomac has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.8 points per game. As for Woodson, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
