Baseball Game Preview: Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits vs. Poly Bears

The Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits will take on the Poly Bears at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The last three games Long Beach Poly has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Long Beach Poly is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past Mayfair 2-1. The win continues a trend for the Jackrabbits in their matchups with the Monsoons: they've now won four in a row.

Daylen Carey spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Poly waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Vikings get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory.

Danny Bedford tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 12 over six innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Poly let Lucas Burton and Mayan De Nava run wild. Burton went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while De Nava went 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most runs De Nava has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Keaton Pilliter, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Poly pushed their record up to 15-11 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.75 runs across that stretch. As for Long Beach Poly, their victory bumped their record up to 15-13.
