Basketball Recap: Hickory's Undefeated Season over After Four Games

After flying high against Newton-Conover on Friday, Hickory came back down to earth. The Red Tornadoes received a blow on Saturday as they fell 80-65 to the Gaston Christian Eagles. The loss was the Red Tornadoes' first of the season.

Cameron Newman continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Gaston Christian, shooting 60% from the field en route to 23 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Newman has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Milner, who went 7-for-13 to rack up 18 points and five boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Hickory fell to 3-1. As for Gaston Christian, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1.

Coming up, Hickory will be home for the holidays to greet Foard at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Red Tornadoes will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 55 points in their last three games. Gaston Christian will take on The Skill Factory in a holiday battle at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
