Basketball Recap: Jordan Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Thornwood over Christian Fenger Academy

Thornwood was the 65-56 winner over Christian Fenger Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. The Thornwood Thunderbirds took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Christian Fenger Academy Titans.

Thornwood's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Jones, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 20 points and five rebounds. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Young, who went 5-for-9 en route to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Thornwood was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Thornwood's defeat dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Christian Fenger Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thornwood will challenge Crete-Monee at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Christian Fenger Academy, they will face off against Schurz at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Schurz knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Christian Fenger Academy likes a good challenge.
