Softball Recap: Harpeth Victorious

Harpeth let Hickman County stack four runs on them in the first inning on Tuesday but luckily Harpeth prevailed anyway. The Indians came out on top against the Bulldogs by a score of 8-4. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Taylor Riley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cameron Hayes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Stinson, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Harpeth kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Harpeth's record now sits at 7-10-1. As for Hickman County, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

As of now, neither Harpeth nor the Bulldogs have any future games scheduled.
