Basketball Recap: Bowie Drops Highest Score of Season Against Tornillo

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bowie). They breezed by the Tornillo Coyotes to the tune of 83-48 on Friday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Bears as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.

Bowie's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Johan Camacho, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards. Camacho's evening made it ten games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Joe Rodriguez, who went 10 of 18 en route to 25 points and six steals.

Bowie was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Bowie's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10. As for Tornillo, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Bowie wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-40 defeat against El Dorado on the 26th. As for Tornillo, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Harmony School of Innovation at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025.
