Baseball Recap: Norco Drops Highest Score of Season Against King

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norco). They put the hurt on the King Wolves with a sharp 19-4 win on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won five in a row.

Jordan Ayala was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Norco got a massive performance out of Marcus Blanton, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Blanton has posted since back in February. Daniel Luther also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Norco pushed their record up to 13-8 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for King, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-10 record this season.

Norco will have a chance to go back-to-back against King: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
