Catholic Memorial looks to repeat as state champion. Also watch out for Putnam Vo-Tech, Newton North, Danvers and Mansfield in the Massachusetts #MaxPrepsFab5.

2015-16 Massachusetts Preseason Boys Basketball Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Catholic Memorial (West Roxbury)
Head coach:
Denis Tobin
2014-15 record: 22-2

The Knights have won at least 22 games each of the past two seasons and they return three starters from last year's team that defeated Putnam Vo-Tech in the Division I state final. All-conference players Matt Hanna, Brandon Twitty and Kellan Grady all return.

2. Putnam Vo-Tech (Springfield)
Head coach:
William Shepard
2014-15 record: 21-4



Putnam had four players make the All-Western Massachusetts team, including senior forward Tyonne Malone, who is considered the top prospect in that area of the state. Putnam also returns all-area honorable mention Luqman Abdur-rauf.

3. Newton North (Newtonville)
Head coach:
Paul Connolly
2014-15 record: 22-3

Another team that saw its season come to an end via a loss to Catholic Memorial, Newton North reached the semifinals of the South Division 1 regional playoffs. Newton North lost three starters from last year's squad that won 80 games over four seasons. Included in that group was four-year starter Tommy Mobley. Sophomore Ethan Wright will be looked upon to help carry the load in 2015-16.

4. Danvers
Head coach:
John Walsh
2014-15 record: 27-0



Danvers has won three state championships in the past four seasons, but they lose All-Scholastics Super Team member Devan Harris to graduation. Junior guard Devonn Allen returns, however, along with senior guard Rashad Francois. Both Allen and Francois earned all-conference honors last year.

5. Mansfield
Head coach:
Michael Vaughn
2014-15 record: 23-3

Mansfield reached the South Division I final before losing to Catholic Memorial. Mansfield returns one of the top players in the Hockomock Conference in Nick Baskin. Mansfield will miss all-conference players Ryan Boulter and Michael Boen, who helped lead the team to 23 wins in 2015.
