Baseball Recap: Awaken Christian's Losing Streak Snapped at Four Games

Awaken Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against White Pine, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Lions blew past the Bobcats 13-4 on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won six games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Lucas Wulfenstein made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Awaken Christian is 3-1 when Wulfenstein allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Wulfenstein was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ethan Roth was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Awaken Christian's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Cayden Eure was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

Awaken Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They are 5-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

With the victory, Awaken Christian broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-6. As for White Pine, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.

Awaken Christian will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bobcats: the pair will be back at it again later today.
