Baseball Recap: Vallivue Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

On Friday Vallivue's undefeated season almost came to an end. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Columbia Wildcats. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Colt Augustus made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aaron Rayo, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Isaac Farrel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Vallivue always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .588. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Columbia only posted an OBP of .367.

Vallivue pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Columbia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.
