Basketball Game Preview: Cary-Grove Trojans vs. Crystal Lake South Gators

Crystal Lake South is hoping to do what Crystal Lake Central couldn't on Wednesday: put an end to Cary-Grove's winning streak, which now stands at four games. Cary-Grove blew past Crystal Lake Central 58-33. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matchups by 25 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Crystal Lake South was able to grind out a solid win over Huntley on Wednesday, taking the game 56-47. Given the Gators' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 72nd, while the Red Raiders are ranked 261st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Cary-Grove's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.0 points per game. As for Crystal Lake South, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.

Cary-Grove came up short against Crystal Lake South in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 47-43. Can Cary-Grove avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
