Baseball Recap: Keefe Tech Drops Season-High Score on Trivium

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Keefe Tech). Everything went their way against the Trivium Eagles on Monday as they made off with a 14-4 victory.

Jaxon Fertel made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Joey Secatore, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jose Medrano, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Keefe Tech always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Keefe Tech is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Trivium, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Coming up, Keefe Tech is taking a road trip to square off against Boston English/Muniz Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Trivium, they will square off against St. Bernard's Central Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bernardians have averaged an impressive 6.7 runs per game this season.
