Basketball Game Preview: Southwest Patriots vs. Temple Tigers

The Southwest Patriots will take on the Temple Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Southwest is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They breezed past Banks County to the tune of 79-41. Winning may never get old, but the Patriots sure are getting used to it with their 11th in a row.

Southwest's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Dupree, who shot 5-for-7 from long range and dropped a double-double with 27 points and 15 rebounds. Dupree's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. C.J. Howard was another key player, going 6-for-11 from beyond the arc en route to 22 points and seven assists.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Tigers on Saturday. Temple was the clear victors by an 87-61 margin over Swainsboro. Given Temple's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 139th, while Swainsboro is ranked 327th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Southwest pushed their record up to 25-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 30 points. As for Temple, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 18 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-6 record this season.
