Soccer Game Preview: Xavier vs. Vinton-Shellsburg

The Xavier Lancers will square off against the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Xavier's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Vinton-Shellsburg's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Xavier is headed into the match having not lost since April 9 and will look to keep things rolling. They and Linn-Mar finished up on equal footing with a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Vinton-Shellsburg entered their tilt with West Delaware on Monday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. Give Vinton-Shellsburg's defense some credit: that's the team's sixth straight shutout.

Xavier's draw gives them a new season record of 5-1-3. As for Vinton-Shellsburg, their win bumped their record up to 10-1-1.
