Volleyball Recap: Pierce County Comes Up Short

Pierce County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 2-0 to the Glynn Academy Terrors. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Terrors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 on Tuesday.

Pierce County was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the first set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-22, 25-16.

Glynn Academy can attribute much of their success to Kara Burandt, who had 14 digs and one assist.

Pierce County's loss dropped their record down to 16-19. As for Glynn Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 24-11 record this season.

Coincidentally, Pierce County and Glynn Academy will both be playing Lowndes the next time they take the court. The Bears will host the Vikings at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Terrors will play them later in the day, at 6:00 p.m.
