Jace Cornelius commands the offense for a Rebels win

Recap: Weld Central Rebels vs. Monte Vista Pirates
The Weld Central Rebels waltzed into their contest Thursday with two straight wins but they left with three. They snuck past Monte Vista with a 52-48 win. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Weld Central also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2022.
Weld Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jace Cornelius, who scored 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tyler Branch, who scored 18 points.
Weld Central's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for Monte Vista, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Weld Central will head out on the road to face off against Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Monte Vista won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dolores Huerta Prep at 5:00 p.m. on December 15th. Dolores Huerta Prep comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
