Softball Preview: Tipton Blue Devils vs. Frankton Eagles

Tipton hasn't had much luck against Frankton recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Blue Devils will square off against the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

While Tipton's win against Benton Central wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bison 8-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Blue Devils have posted since April 18th.

Chasity Kelich made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. Those eight strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Makayla Schinlaub was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ava Higginbotham also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Tipton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 4-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Parker has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Stanley, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Malorie Clark was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
