Volleyball Recap: New Bremen Comes Up Short

If New Bremen was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Anna on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Cardinals fell just short of the Parkway Panthers by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Panthers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

While New Bremen ultimately came up short, they really made Parkway work, particularly in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 26-24, 25-16, 23-25, 15-10.

When it comes to explaining why New Bremen lost, don't look at Charlotte Nelson. Despite the final result, she had 23 assists and six digs. Nelson has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last five times she's played. Ashtyn Eilerman also deserves some recognition as she had her first blocks of the season.

Parkway's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but KJae Stover led the charge by getting 12 digs and two aces. What's more, Stover racked up 26 assists, the most she's had since back in August. Hadley Stover was another key player, getting 11 digs and two aces.

New Bremen's defeat dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Parkway, they pushed their record up to 12-1 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

New Bremen and Parkway should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Cardinals (ranked 11th) will meet Marion Local (ranked 143rd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Parkway will take on Minster at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (17 vs. 248).
