Softball Recap: Presentation Wins Going Away Against Castilleja

The Presentation Panthers made easy work of the Castilleja Gators on Monday and carried off a 17-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Allie Malatesta was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Julia Simon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Juliana Yurko, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Presentation was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .355 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Presentation's record now sits at 6-11. As for Castilleja, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Presentation will head out to square off against St. Ignatius College Preparatory at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Panthers are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Castilleja, they will face off against Sequoia at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Ravens will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Gators surely won't give up without a fight.
