Football Recap: Grant Comes Up Short + How To Watch

Grant lost against De La Salle back in August of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pacers were outmatched by the Spartans and fell 47-20.

Grant's loss came despite strong showings from Tavio Rios and Dlo Knight. Rios threw for 276 yards and a pair of TDs, while Knight picked up 135 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Even if they lost, Grant's defensive line still kept up the pressure with five sacks. In that department, Julian Bruno was the leader with two. He has been hot recently, having also posted nine or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

De La Salle's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Duece Jones-Drew, who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. The dominant performance also gave Jones-Drew a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two). Jaden Jefferson was another key player, rushing for 67 yards and two TDs.

Grant now has a losing record of 2-3. As for De La Salle, they pushed their record up to 4-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Grant will venture away from home to square off against Lincoln at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Thorne Watson and Rashad Robinson. As for De La Salle, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against St. Mary's at 7:00 p.m. The Spartans will be up against the Rams' rather soft defense (which has allowed 32.25 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
