Hamburg hasn't had much luck against Monticello recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Lions will be playing at home against the Billies at 5:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Hamburg turned things around against Camden Fairview on Monday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Cardinals an 8-0 shutout. That looming 8-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Lions yet this season.

M Hammond was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. Those 12 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
In other batting news, L McKelvey was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. E Tubbs was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Monticello waltzed into their matchup on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Yellowjackets.
Like Hamburg, Monticello also got a great game from a two-way player: Addi Frazer. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Frazer has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Libby Kingston, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and two runs. That home run was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Macey Stell, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Monticello lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now launched at least two home runs in three consecutive contests.
Monticello's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-7. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hamburg, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Hamburg hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Monticello struggles in that department as they've averaged .403. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
