Basketball Recap: Robstown Cottonpickers vs. Calallen Wildcats

Robstown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They took a 63-45 bruising from the Calallen Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cottonpickers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 66-52 back in January.

Calallen got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Tanner Martinez out in front who went 7 of 17 en route to 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Sam Cecava, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 boards.

Robstown's loss dropped their record down to 4-24. As for Calallen, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 21-11 record this season.

Robstown will face off against King at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. King knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Robstown likes a good challenge. As for Calallen, they will take on Harmony School of Excellence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
