Basketball Recap: Goliad's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Goliad waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They took down the Luling Eagles 63-46. This was a revenge game for the Tigers: when they faced off against the Eagles back in January, they had to take a 59-49 defeat.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jaime Gomez, who posted 16 points. Gomez's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayden Flores, who went 7 of 17 to rack up 16 points and eight rebounds.

The victory got Goliad back to even at 14-14. As for Luling, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-16.

Coming up, Goliad will face off against Nixon-Smiley at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Goliad has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Luling, they will challenge Stockdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
