Baseball Recap: Grafton Gets the Win

Grafton was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 10-7 win over the East Fairmont Bees. For the Bearcats, this counts as revenge for the 12-2 victory the Bees walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Mason Sheme made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Grafton is 4-1 when Sheme allows one or fewer hits, but 5-6 otherwise. Sheme was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Greyson Ramezan, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had over his last 11 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Gillespie, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Grafton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive matchups.

Grafton's record is now 9-7. As for East Fairmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.

Grafton didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 12-0 loss against Bridgeport on the 17th. As for East Fairmont, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, an 11-1 defeat against Northern Garrett on the 19th.
