Baseball Game Preview: Bullitt East Chargers vs. North Oldham Mustangs

Bullitt East and North Oldham are an even 4-4 against one another since May of 2016, but likely not for long. The Chargers will head out on the road to face off against the Mustangs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Bullitt East sitting on six straight victories and North Oldham on three.

Bullitt East's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Bullitt Central with a sharp 6-0 win. Considering the Chargers have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Garrison Miller tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over 6.1 innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chase Meredith, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Oliver Barnhouse, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, North Oldham was able to grind out a solid victory over Anderson County on Friday, taking the game 5-1.

North Oldham pushed their record up to 12-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Bullitt East, their record is now 15-3-1.

Bullitt East might still be hurting after the 10-2 loss they got from North Oldham when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Chargers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
