Baseball Recap: Myrtle Point Starts Season with Victory on the Road

Myrtle Point had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Illinois Valley Cougars 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bobcats have posted since April 22, 2024.

Skyler Zick was excellent, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases.

Coming up, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Myrtle Point Bobcats challenge Country Christian Cougars at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Illinois Valley, they will square off against Brookings-Harbor at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
